לשמוח על קיומה של המדינה למרות הנגעים

ברוב השנים, קוראים את הפרשות "תזריע-מצורע" בשבת שלפני יום העצמאות.

אחרי הלידות, ברית המילה, מתארת לנו התורה את הנגעים, בין היתר את נגעי הבית.

יתכן שהדבר מלמד אותנו שגם אחרי לידתה המשמחת והמרגשת של מדינה, והמחויבות שלנו כלפיה (הברית), יש לצפות להתפרצות של נגעים בבית.

הדבר מחייב בדיקת הנגעים וביעורם, אך איננו סותר את השמחה הגדולה על קיום הבית שנולד בסה"כ לפני 62 שנה.

Dear Family and Friends,

Tomorrow, as it happens mostly on Shabbat before Yom HaAtzmaut, we'll read about birth, Covenant and plagues. Among those plagues, there is a mysterious one: plague of leprosy in a house.

Maybe this teaches us that after the very moving and happy birth of a Jewish State, our commitment (covenant-brit) to it. The outburst of "plagues" is inevitable.

This requires of course acknowledgement of these plagues and "purification", but should not interfere with the Joy about the mere existence of our Home.
