טומאה כניכור

לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,

מהו ההקשר בו נקרא מחר את פרשת "תזריע-מצורע" העוסקת בענייני טומאה וטהרה, או במילים אחרות במרחק מהקודש, ובמרחק מה"מחנה" של בני אדם? מצד אחד, השתחררנו מטומאת העבדות, כי העבדות היא ללא ספק מצב המרחיק אותנו מ"הקודש", מעצמנו, ומיכולתנו להתעלות, גם התייחסנו אתמול לשיא הטומאה והניכור בדורנו, השואה ומאידך, נחגוג בשבוע הבא את עצמאותנו, שגם גבתה מחיר כבד בחיי אדם. ואולי, אם מתבוננים באירועי השבוע, נראה מצד אחד לא מעט גילויים של טומאה, של ניכור, של ריחוק המגיעים לכותרות העתונים, אך עצם הביקורת ושאט הנפש מתופעות אלו וגילויי אחווה, קרבה וסולידריות הקיימים מזינים את האמונה והתקווה לחברה ישראלית יפה יותר וצודקת יותר.

In some countries, like India, humans, animals, vehicles and everything you could imagine share the same space, and on the other hand differences and gaps between people and social classes are so salient, and the notions of purity, sanctity and impurity have a very strong meaning, This invites us to reflect on the parts of this Shabbat's Torah reading where some of these concepts appear in a different context; temporary impurity and "exclusion" is considered a result of inappropriate social behavior, causing alienation and hatred between people; but, the possibility of renewal and purification reflects the reversibility of processes and the hope for a better society.
