לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,
מחרתיים, בחג השבועות, נקרא למפטיר: וביום הביכורים, בהקריבכם מנחה חדשה לה' (במדבר כח, כו)
נראה לי שהמימד החקלאי-הארצי של החג משתלב עם המימד הרוחני, כאשר המוטיב המרכזי הוא ההחידוש וההתחדשות. כשם שהיבול החדש מבטא את המשך החיים , ולכן מתחייבת מנחה כביטוי להכרת הטוב, שאינו מובן מאליו, כך גם התורה חייבת להיות "נדרשת" חדשה ומתחדשת, כדי שתוכל להיות "תורת חיים". גם רות המואביה לא היתה מתקבלת לעם ישראל בחברה פונדמנטליסטית, לולא האומץ של חכמים לדרוש : לא יבוא עמוני ומואבי בקהל ה'- עמוני ולא עמונית; מואבי ולא מואבית.
שתהיה לכולנו שבת של שלום ותורת חיים מתחדשת

Dear Family and Friends,
On Shavuot we read the Book of Ruth. Many explanations were given to that custom, but maybe there is a profound meaning connecting Ruth to Revelation
Last year we wrote about the difference between Boaz (the audacious) and Ploni Almoni (the "anonymous" – everybody, representing the conservative formalist).
Boaz agreed to marry Ruth the Moabite , despite of the explicit interdiction in the Scripture – the "anonymous"refused.
Does that teach us that in order to experience Revelation, we have to be audacious and creative and think "outside the box", or maybe being audacious and creative, if our intentions are "pure" and oriented towards the "Other" is Revelation..
