לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,
המשפט המרכזי בליל הסדר, הלקוח מהמשנה והנפסק להלכה ע"י הרמב"ם הוא: בכל דור ודור חייב אדם לראות את עצמו (ובלשון הרמב"ם: להראות את עצמו) כאילו הוא יצא יצא ממצרים (ובלשון הרמב"ם: כאילו הוא בעצמו יצא עתה משעבוד מצרים).
משפט זה הופך את סיפור יציאת מצרים לחוויה קיומית הכרוכה בתהליך נפשי של שחרור מתחושת עבדות, מכעסים ומרגשות נקמה ומכבלים אחרים. שחרור זה נועד להפוך אותנו לרגישים יותר כלפי מי שעדיין אינו חופשי. נראה אם כן שלעבודת השחרור העצמית יש מטרה אתית ושחרור האחר משלים את שחרור העצמי.

Dear Family and Friends,
The Seder isn't just an occasion to tell and repeat an "Old Story"; It's an experiential and existential event reviving the LIberation from Slavery. This includes a psychological process of liberating ourselves from all feelings of oppression, hatred, desire of vengeance and other alienating elements. This internal process should lead us to empathize with others who aren't free yet.
The internal psychological process of liberation is therefore a precondition of the ethical aspect of understanding and liberating others and the Freedom of Others is thus the ultimate fulfillment of our own freedom.
