לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,
חכמים התייחסו למילת מפתח המופיעה גם בפרשה שנקרא מחר, בהפטרה ("חזון ישעיהו" בפרק א' בישעיהו) ובמגילת איכה אותה נקרא בליל תשעה באב.
המילה היא "אֵיכָה"; אולי ניתן לראות במילה זו שאלה שאנשים או קבוצות שואלים את עצמם כאשר הם במצוקה ומשמעותה היא: איך קרה הדבר (לי, לנו)?
מעניין שמדרש אחר מייחס מילה זו לא-ל, כאשר הוא פונה לאדם הראשון ושואל אותי : "אַיֶכָּה?" אחרי שאכל מעץ הדעת; אותה מילה, אותן אותיות, אבל ניקוד שונה.
כאן משמעות הפנייה היא: "איפה אתה?"
אולי, השאלה "איפה אני?" או "איפה אנחנו?" היא שאלה רפלקטיבית, מתבוננת העשויה לעזור לנו להבין "איך זה קרה?" ואולי אף למנוע את החורבן העתידי. היא מחליפה התקרבנות ללקיחת אחריות ולכן היא מצריכה בגרות.

Dear Family and Friends,
Our Sages elaborated on a key word, appearing in the Torah section we'll read tomorrow, as well as in tomorrow's Haftarah, as well as in the canonic text we'll read on Tish'a beAv (Megillat Eichah).
The word is "Eichah?". I guess it's a kind of question individuals or societies may ask themselves when they are in distress, meaning: "How did that happen (to me, to us)?"
It's interesting that another Midrash relates the same expression to God, when starting his conversation with Adam, after he sinned. There, although the letters (consonants) are identical, the vocalization is different ; "Ayekah –אַיֶכָּה", hence the meaning: "Where are you?"
Maybe "where are we?" is a more reflective, introspective question that could help us understand "how did that happen".
