In another 50 hours, here in Israel, and at the appropriate time elsewhere, Jews everywhere in the world will gather to celebrate the Seder and the question will be asked: "What is different tonight?"

Sometimes – as for me and my family this year – the obvious and spontaneous answer to that question can be painful, because we lost a very close friend with whom we have been celebrating the Seder for almost 22 years.

Maybe asking that "traditional" question now means: reflecting on what has changed and what we would like to be different in our lives at various levels.

Not asking questions implies stagnation, since change is intrinsically related to questions

בעוד כ-50 שעות – כאן בארץ – ובשעות אחרות במקומות שונים בעולם,

יחגגו יהודים בכל העולם את ליל הסדר.

תישאל השאלה: "מה נשתנה"

לעתים – עבורי ומשפחתי השנה, בעקבות פטירתו של חבר יקר ואהוב אִתּו חגגנו את ליל הסדר קרוב ל-22 שנים – תהיה התשובה לשאלה זו עצובה וקשה.

אולי אפשר לחשוב על משמעותה של שאלה זו כמעין התבוננות על פשר השינויים שחלו בחיינו ועל מה שהיינו מבקשים לשנות בהם, במישורים שונים.

הימנעות משאלת שאלות פירושה: קיפאון והחמצה, מכיוון שהשינוי קשור באופן מהותי ל"שאלה".
