מלך חדש המציג את המיעוט כאיום

ואכן, כפי שכבר הזכרנו לפני שבועיים, נקרא מחר על המלך החדש במצרים ש"לא ידע את יוסף" ומלך זה הציג את המיעוט האתני (בני ישראל במקרה הזה) כאיום על החברה המצרית. במהלך ספר שמות נקרא איך התגלגלו הדברים ואיזה מחיר שילמו המצרים על שיעבודו של אותו מיעוט. מסתבר שהצגת השונה והזר כאיום גם עלולה להפוך אותו לכזה ואולי זה מה שיש ללמוד מספר שמות.

An indeed so, tomorrow we'll read about the "new King of Egypt" who convinced his people that the ethnic minority (in this case: the Children of Israel, our forefathers) are a threat to the Egyptians.

The Book of Shemoth (Exodus) will teach us how things went on and what price the Egyptians paid for oppressing this minority.

Maybe this teaches us that defining and perceiving the other, the stranger as a threat becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
