Tomorrow we'll read about Yehuda "approaching" or "getting close to" Yosseph ; Our Sages suggest different possibilities of "approaching" or "getting close", each of them depending on the attitude and the intention of the individuals involved in that interaction.
I guess Yehuda didn’t know how the Egyptian viceroy would react to his speech.
Maybe this teaches us that sometimes we are "approaching" as individuals or as groups another person or group with anxiety related to the uncertainty of the situation or even with the apprehension of a hostile or negative reaction; nevertheless if we learn, alike Yehuda, to communicate with the apparently hostile interlocutor and "touch" his human feelings as a brother, father and human being, the outcome can be positively surprising.
