Tomorrow we'll start reading about sacrifices in the Book of Vayikra (Leviticus) and there will also be a special reading announcing Purim, namely the obligation to remember and to eradicate Amalek.
Many occasions during Jewish History gave us the opportunity to identify this or other group or people as being "Amalek".
Rabbi Shimshon Refael Hirsch (Frankfurt – 19th Century) identified Amalek as the symbol of absolute evil and actually warned us of the danger of imitating Amalek, namely taking advantage of our power against somebody weaker. Maybe this tendency of abusing power needs to be "scarified" and mastered
