לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו,
שני אחים תאומים נולדו לרבקה וליצחק; יעקב התפתח ליעקב-ישראל, הלא הוא "יעקב אבינו"; לעומתו עשיו גדל להיות "עשיו", וחכמים ופרשנים מוסיפים לו הכינוי "הרשע".
בהנחה שבאמת היה רשע, האם יתכן ש"רשעותו" נוצרה כתוצאה מהעדפתה הברורה של רבקה את אחיו התאום. ואם כן, האם מרגע לידתו, משהו בו עורר אצל רבקה תחושות קשות שגרמה לה לדחות אותו? נראה לי,אבל, שהתורה מלמדת אותנו (ועל כך נקרא בשבוע הבא) שגם אחרי ניתוק של למעלה מ-20 שנה, אפשר להתפייס, למרות המטענים הקשים שהצטברו.

Rivka gave birth to twins; Yaakov, became Yaakov-Israel, "Our Father Yaakov"; Esav grew and became , according to our Sages "Esav Harasha - the Evil".
If we assume that he was "evil" indeed, could we assume that it was generated by his mother's clear preference for his twin-brother and his rejection. Maybe that from the moment he was born, he aroused strong unpleasant feelings in his mother, causing her to reject him?
Nevertheless, it seems to me that the Torah teaches us (and we'll read it next week) that, even after more than 20 years, reconciliation is possible, despite of strong riivalry and jealousy,
