According to Shammai, we should light the Hanukkah candles in decreasing order, starting with 8 candles the first night and 1 candle the last evening (today).

We follow Hillel's approach and are adding every day one candle, which increases gradually the amount of light.

Maybe this teaches us that when the cycle of life has light and shadow, you can be anxious, when there is a lot of "light" that things will have to get worse, but you can also believe that when you reach the maximal darkness, inevitably there will be more and more light.

Shabbat Shalom, Hanukah Sameach.
