Dear Family and Friends,
The 2 brothers Itzhak and Yishmael are meeting again and are burying their common father Avraham together.  Both of them survived  traumatic experiences; Yishmael had been banished with his mother Hagar and almost died in the desert – Yitzhak almost got sacrificed.
Maybe  their encounter and reconciliation was possible because each of them was able to overcome his traumatic experience and acknowledge the suffering of the Other.
Shabbat Shalom to all,
Pinchas, Tzippie and Family

The family story continues in the Koran, where we are told that Abraham felt pity for Hagar, that he took her and Ishmael back and performed a quasi-sacrifice of Ishmael under God's guidance, a kind of Akeidas Jishmael. If we read both stories together we can understand that they were back together and grew up together and cared for their father. In this view they both underwent the same dramatic experiences (in the version of the Koran it is Sara who is send away after return of Hagar).

Thanks, dear Henri
Interesting indeed, but even if you stick to our tradition, according to the Midrash also quoted by Rashi, Yitzhak is the one who brings Hagar-Ketura back to his father
