שחרור, אלימות, נקמה ופיוס

לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,

בסוף הפרשה שנקרא מחר (אמור), יש סיפור על מריבה אלימה בין "בן איש מצרי", שהיה נשוי "לאישה ישראלית"  ואיש "ישראלי". אחרי תקרית אלימה זו "בן האישה הישראלית", שהוא בן האיש המצרי קילל את השם.

רש"י (בעקבות מדרש תנחומא) מזהה את את בן האיש המצרי עם בנו של המצרי שנהרג ע"י משה, כאשר משה יצא אל אחיו וראה "איש מצרי" מכה "איש עברי מאחיו". למרות שניתן היה להבין את מעשהו של משה בזמנו, משתמש אחד המדרשים במעשה זה כהנמקה של הקב"ה על אי היענותו לבקשתו של משה לא למות.

ואולי מלמד אותנו דבר זה שלעתים תהליך של שחרור מלווה באלימות, שהטינה מולידה נקמה גם בדורות הבאים ושאם אין פיוס, מעגל האלימות יכול להימשך לעד, ואז אין משמעות  לשאלה "מי התחיל".

At the end of the Torah section we'll read tomorrow, there is a story relating a sad violent event between a Jew and a son of a "mixed marriage". After that violent incident, the "Son of the Egyptian Man and the Israelite Woman" cursed G-d.

Rashi, according to the Midrash, claims that his father was the Egyptian who Moshe had killed many years ago, while he was hitting  a "Hebrew Man of his Brothers". Although this reaction of Moshe can be understood and justified, this act has been used in a Midrash as an argument against Moshe's desire to be immortal.

Maybe this teaches us that very often  a process of Liberation includes  violence, that generally  resentment  engenders vengeance in next generations, and if there is no reconciliation, the cycle of violence can go on for ever, when the question "who started" becomes meaningless.
