לבני משפחתנו, חברותינו וחברינו היקרים,
פרשת מטות שנקרא מחר מתחילה ב"נדרים". המסורת העממית מתייחסת לתפילת "כל נדרי", הפותחת את יום הכיפורים כרגע המקודש ביותר בשנה. ואולי בא הדבר ללמדנו שהמסורת שלנו מתייחסת ברצינות ובכובד ראש למילים ולהתחייבויות ומעודדת אותנו לדבר אמת. אין צורך לומר מה ההשלכות של "דיבור חדש" של פוליטיקאים או אנשי תקשורת. אך, אולי בא הדבר ללמדנו שכאשר בני אדם או עמים מדברםי זה עם זה ומקשיבים זה לזה, הם מפסיקים להרוג זה את זה.
מי יתן שיחזור השקט לאזורנו

Dear Family and Friends,
The section we'll read tomorrow starts with the issue of vows :"nedarim" in Hebrew. We all know that Yom Kippur starts with the "Kol Nidrey" prayer, considered by all Jews in the world as the most solemn moment in the year.
Maybe this teaches us that our tradition relates very seriously to commitments, to words, and encourage us to be very careful about what we say. We all know what happens when "newspeak" becomes common practice among politicians and media, but maybe it also teaches us that when people talk to each and listen to each other honestly, they stop killing each other.
